Farm Access Road Construction Project in Baltimore County, Maryland

For this project in Baltimore County, Maryland, our team was brought in to improve and rebuild an access road leading to a working farm and agricultural facility. The existing roadway had uneven terrain, soft spots, and poor grading that made equipment access difficult, especially during wet conditions. Our goal was to create a smooth, stable, and durable farm road capable of supporting regular vehicle and machinery traffic year-round.

We began by evaluating the existing grade and identifying problem areas where water runoff and erosion were affecting the surface. Using a skid steer, we removed high spots, redistributed material, and reshaped the road base to establish a consistent slope. This step was critical for ensuring proper drainage and preventing future washouts.

To achieve a clean, professional finish, we used a skid steer–mounted land plane grader attachment. This attachment allowed us to precisely level the dirt surface, cut down uneven sections, and blend material evenly across the roadway. The land plane is ideal for farm roads and rural access lanes because it creates a smooth driving surface while maintaining proper grade for water flow.

Throughout the process, we focused on compacting and shaping the road to support long-term use. The final result is a functional, well-graded farm access road that allows safe and efficient movement of vehicles, equipment, and livestock operations. This project improved both accessibility and durability while preserving the natural surroundings of the property.

This type of farm road construction and grading work is essential for agricultural properties throughout Baltimore County, helping landowners maintain reliable access and protect their land investment over time.
